About Sterling

The town of Sterling was originally inhabited by, and provided a seasonal home for, the Nipmuck, Narragansett, and Mohegan Native Americans. Eventually the town became a home to European settlers who built grist and saw mills along the Moosup River. In 1794 Sterling was incorporated into a town.

The Town of Sterling is roughly 27 square miles and boasts gorgeous rolling fields, providing spectacular views. Home sales in the last decade have drastically increased in the town of Sterling, mostly due to the amount of farmland the town had to offer. Additionally, the Town has opened an Industrial Park which has aided in the Towns growth and development. Sterling, CT borders Rhode Island, which makes it an ideal commuter location to Providence, and other Rhode Island communities.
